°CoolRoofs Buildings in NYC (as of Sept. 2014)
The City of New York aims to cut greenhouse gas emissions 30% by 2030, and one method of attack is NYC °CoolRoofs, an alliance between NYC Service and NYC Dept. of Buildings. As of September 2014, approximately 5,768,347 square feet of NYC roofs have been "cooled," a process that involves applying a reflective white coating that reduces energy use, cooling costs and carbon emissions, according to the program.
The map below pinpoints current program participants by longitude and latitude. Following that is a heat map of °CoolRoofs activity in NYC.
