The Sun Returns to Atlanta in Time for Mirthful New Jónsi Birgisson Track

From the ever-reliable Gorilla Vs. Bear, we’re treated to “Boy Lilikoi,” a soaring collaboration with composer Nico Muhly, produced by Peter Katis (Interpol, the National). “Boy …” is the first scent of Birgisson’s forthcoming solo record, which, according to Katis, is “…going to be a largely acoustic guitar record but also with a lot of ‘out there’ string arrangements.” Oh, he’s going to be singing in English this time, too.

Perhaps equally exciting as waking up to new work by Birgisson is Muhly’s involvement. After being introduced to him via Grizzly Bear’s Veckatimest and the eerie sound world he created for film in The Reader, I’m hooked. Nevermind that Katis co-produced one of my favorite records of all-time.

Update: Pitchfork is reporting that Jónsi’s record is entitled Go.
